Brave the new surfing world!

 

It has been 17 years since the release of World Stormrider 1, issued in 2001. Since then this first volume has been sold around 250,000 copies, including a Japanese version.

In the wake of this success came the World Stormrider 2 in 2004 and soon the need for a trilogy became obvious. Therefore, the World Stormrider 3 got issued with some obvious key zones, newly discovered surfshores and more obscure coastal bits off the beaten paths.

 

In a reference to Jules Vernes “around the world in 80 days” each guide book would contain 80 surf destinations, showed in a double spread.

Which sum up into 240 surf bits spread around the world.

 

One of the main issue became “let’s say, I want to surf Pohnpei in Micronesia : which volume do I need to get ?”

 

It was high time to put all the zones in one book which would be a major surf atlas. The need for an update combined with the possibility of reshuffling all the zones in a different number of pages depending on the location became obvious.

 

And it took us 4 years to adapt the lay-out, extracts some key spots for a focus, find fresh photos (one from the Surf Blurb!) and add some spots on various surfmaps. 

We edited, corrected, copy edited those 446 pages of pure stoke!

 

Now it is out and it is probably our last issue. Especially that hardcover issue which is a first run, next would be a soft cover !
