Panel from “4 Most” comic book • March-April 1949
In the Surf Blurb on October 17, 2016, Timothy De La Vega wrote about Toni Gayle, a comic character who tracks down a murderer. This inspired Gibus De Soultrait to write an article on the French edition of the Surfer Journal, as reported in the Surf Blurb on January 9, 2017. DeSoto Brown follows up on that story, since he owns a copy of this comic in his collection.
Toni Gayle, a fashion model, is mistaken for a look-alike heiress by some hired hitmen on the beach at Waikiki. While surfing there, she gradually realizes that one of the thugs is trying to kill her, although she has no idea why. She manages to escape through luck.
Another attempt has both her and the bad guy hanging on for their lives above hot lava in a volcanic crater. Eventually Toni and her boyfriend save the actual heiress and discover who had tried to murder her for her money. Readers then can relax with relief.
