Cover of “Johnny Noble’s Collection of Royal Hawaiian Songs” • 1929
This songbook contains the musical scores and words for dozens of Hawaiian songs. Composer and publisher Johnny Noble copyrighted his arrangements of existing songs by others, in addition to creating his own compositions. First published in 1929, this particular edition probably dates from the early 1940s. The cover illustration resembles the typical view of surfing at Waikiki, but in this case places what looks like Mauna Loa in the distance, on Hawaii Island. |
